Courtney Dickey, Board President
Director, U.S. Legal Services, HomeAway, Inc.
Courtney Dickey has served on the Susan G. Komen Austin Affiliate Board of Directors since 2012 as a member at large, Secretary and she currently sits in the role of Vice President. She is the Senior Director of Legal Services for the Americas for HomeAway, an Austin-based vacation rental marketplace. Outside of the Affiliate, Courtney donates her time as a member of the Board of Directors of The Junior League of Austin and as a National Collegiate Membership Director for Kappa Delta sorority.
Karen McDaniel, Board Treasurer
Assurance Senior Manager, BDO USA, LLP
Karen has more than 12 years of experience in public accounting serving both public and privately held companies in the manufacturing, life sciences, and energy industries. Her experience includes coordinating the preparation of financial statements and compliance reports in accordance with GAAP, SEC and PCAOB guidelines. Karen serves as BDO’s Women’s Initiative Regional Champion for the Southwest Region, a firm-wide initiative designed to attract and retain talented professionals. She is also part of BDO’s Audit Quality Resource and Internal Inspection teams.
Kristi Svec Simmons, Board Secretary
Partner, Aquila Commercial
Kristi is a partner and platform leader in AQUILA’s corporate services division. Her sole focus is representing users of real estate. Kristi uses her analytical and creative thinking to produce the results she guarantees her clients. She is involved with business development for the company as well as assisting clients with acquisitions, dispositions, expansions, relocations & market analysis. She is a consistent Costar Power Broker and Austin Business Journal Heavy Hitter. Kristi was The Staubach Company’s youngest recipient of the coveted Champion of Excellence Award (an award given to 5 people annually). Kristi is a great example of striving to find the right balance of family, work, and volunteerism.
Jennifer Stevens, Immediate Past President
President and CEO, JHL and Rocca
Jennifer is a successful entrepreneur based in Austin, Texas. She is the founder and president of JHL, Austin Best Events, and Rocca. With more than 20 years of experience in politics, strategic communications, public relations, event planning, and fundraising, Jennifer has provided expertise and guidance to dozens of nonprofits, foundations, government entities, associations, and corporations. Jennifer serves as Board President of the Susan G. Komen Austin Affiliate as well as on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and board of Foster Angels of Central Texas. She served as a board member of the 1883 Council, The Forty Acres Society, and the Texas Lyceum and was selected as a Robert S Strauss Center Fellow.
Director, Physician and Community Relations, Oncology Service, St. David’s
Kim Akel has more than 10 years of experience working with cancer patients, caregivers, and medical teams both personally and professionally. Kim’s passion for helping those facing a cancer diagnosis grew during her own experience as a teenage caregiver for her mom. Before moving to St. David’s Healthcare as Director of Physician and Community Relations for Cancer Services, Kim worked for CanCare as Director of Program Services for five years. Prior to CanCare, Kim worked for the American Cancer Society for six years. In 2009 she was co-chair of the 5th Annual Breast Health Summit. Past awards include the American Cancer Society’s Health Initiatives Staff of the Year Award in 2008 and the Team Player of the Year Award in 2007.
VP Human Resources, Roscoe Properties
Allyson Cline, a human resource professional with more than 20 years of experience working in start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. She is the Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development for Roscoe Properties an Austin-based property management company. Allyson has served on the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors since 2014 as a member at large. She has also helped rejuvenate a board for Mary House Catholic Worker of Austin. Allyson is an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), as well as the national and local American Payroll Associations (APA).
Mark has served on the the Susan G. Komen Austin Affiliate Board of Directors since 2015 and is a Partner with PwC. Mark’s 21-year career at PwC has focused on delivering professional services to multinational, telecommunications and technology industry companies. Mark has been a donor and supporter of Susan G. Komen for over 16 years and like so many in our community has lost a family member and close friends to breast cancer. Mark is married with three daughters and given the rate of breast cancer impacting 1 in 8 women, the mission of Susan G. Komen is near and dear to Mark.
Vice President, IT Enterprise Services, Dell
Jen Felch is the Vice President for IT Enterprise Services at Dell. She was exposed to the challenges of breast cancer in her early life with both her mother and aunt fighting battles with the disease. She later became a survivor herself. Jen is quite passionate about managing risk through education and access to care and treatment. She is also optimistic about the opportunities from research focused on the various stages of this disease. All of which are core to the mission of Komen Austin.
Davis Groves Educational Services
Deb is a Certified Educational Planner and Independent Educational Consultant (IEC) located in Austin, Texas. Deb is the fourth member of her mother’s family to have breast cancer. Deb is passionate about finding a cure for breast cancer and helping those who need breast cancer services. In 2011, Deb chose very intentionally to get involved in the Komen Austin Affiliate. She began as a volunteer answering the phones at the front desk. She has served as their gala “Pink Party” founder/co-chair for three years and the Race for the Cure survivor committee co-chair for the past five years. She was the Chair of the Komen Austin Transition Committee in search of the new Executive Director this past spring. Deb and her husband are Pink Ribbon Circle founding members/donors and received the Outstanding Philanthropists of the year award in 2015. Deb has also received numerous honors including the Komen Austin Balance Survivor of the year in 2014 and the Ramon Stone Magid Iris Award in 2014. Deb’s mantra is that “I will NEVER STOP” and “We will NEVER STOP!” until we find a cure for breast cancer.
Partner and Director of Wealth Management, WorthPointe
Scott O’Brien is partner and Director of Wealth Management at WorthPointe an Austin-based investment and financial planning firm. He has seen a number of his friends and family members effected by breast cancer and wanted to help in Komen Austin’s mission of education, treatment and support of research to find a cure so that someday women and their families will no longer have to endure this struggle.
Senior Vice President, Q2ebanking
Lorrie is currently the SVP of Marketing at Q2, a leading provider of cloud-based virtual banking solutions for financial institutions in Austin. Prior to joining Q2, Lorrie was a 17-year Dell veteran. At Dell, Lorrie held numerous marketing leadership roles. A Texas native, Lorrie has a BS degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Electrical Engineering. She lives in Austin with her husband and three children.
Senior Vice President, Global Business Services
Bobbi Dangerfield leads Global Business Services, a cross-functional organization focused on end-to-end sales enablement, order management, customer order support and business intelligence. Her role is about making Dell the easiest company to do business with in the world for customers, partners and team members. She has more than 30 years of experience in Information Technology, Customer Service and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Prior to joining Dell, Bobbi held positions at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and IBM. She received her BBA in Business Computer Information Systems from Dallas Baptist University and her MBA from Southern Methodist University. Bobbi serves as North America co-chair of the Dell Women in Action employee resource group, which focuses on enabling women to grow and thrive through networking, leadership and expertise. She previously initiated chapters in Malaysia and El Salvador. She also serves on the board of directors for Dress for Success Austin, the Texas Conference for Women, and the Susan G. Komen Austin Affiliate. Bobbi lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, Elmer, and has two grown children, Paige and Tyler.
