2017 Fall Interns
My name is Mikayla Mutscher and I’m from Round Rock, Texas. As the Operations Intern for Susan G. Komen Austin, I hope to gain professional experience to support my future career and an understanding of non-profit management. I’m a third year student at the University of Texas at Austin and am majoring in Corporate Communication Studies with a certificate in Business Foundations. At the University of Texas, I am involved in a spirit organization, Texas Lassos, and I’m a mentor for first year Moody College of Communication students. Some of my hobbies include cooking, traveling, and exploring Austin.
My name is Jaclyn Maneri and I am from Sugar Land, Texas. This fall I will be a junior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Public Relations and double minoring in American Sign Language and business. Aside from school, I love to read cheesy romance novels, catch up on my latest netflix show, go to the pool, and find dogs to pet. This summer and fall I will be the Communications Intern, focusing on public relations and social media. I am excited to learn about the nonprofit world while gaining knowledge about managing a business’ social media accounts.
My name is Kaila Frank and I am a Senior at Texas State University. I am the education and outreach intern for Susan G. Komen this semester, which goes along with my major in Health and Wellness for Clinical Populations. I am hoping to gain a sense for how non-profits operate and finding out the true needs of the community. Breast cancer has a huge impact on my family and I am grateful to have found an internship where we are truly impacting lives. My hobbies include running, spending time with my husband and my 1 year old son, and watching my Greenbay Packers.
My name is Ellen Teuscher and I’m serving as Events and Fundraising Intern this summer and fall. I’m especially excited to be working at Komen Austin to learn more about fundraising in relation to the non-profit world and to get the opportunity to give back to the city I’m now lucky to call home. Currently I’m a rising second year at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Government in the Liberal Arts Honors program and planning to add a minor in Economics. Before moving to Austin for school I spent my whole life in The Woodlands, TX. I’m actively involved in my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, and in UT Student Government, currently serving as Liberal Arts Representative. In my free time I love to explore the Austin food scene, read books in my hammock, and take full advantage of all the outdoors adventures Austin has!
My name is Saran Toure and I’m from Dallas, Texas. I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Nutrition and minoring in both Biology and French. As the Education and Outreach Intern this fall I hope to gain valuable experience in how nonprofit organizations function and more specifically, how our education efforts positively affect our community. In my spare time you can find me running, eating, and probably in a different country.
My name is Lauren Schweers from San Marcos, Texas, and I am a senior at The University of Texas at Austin studying Marketing and Sociology. Joining Susan G. Komen Austin as Race and Community Engagement Intern this year, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this team. Cancer has personally affected my life, and through my efforts with this internship, I hope to be able to support and give back to those currently battling cancer, as well as to survivors and their families. I’m looking forward to learning about and working in the non-profit sector, specifically on Race for the Cure, and I hope to positively impact a successful event.
